1. What is your practice model?
My practice is based on a new concept in medicine called direct primary care. As explained by the Direct Primary Care Coalition, “The defining element of direct primary care is an enduring and trusting relationship between a patient and his or her primary care provider.” This leads to better health outcomes across the board.
To support a strong doctor-patient relationship, I’ve built my practice around a monthly membership model: you pay a flat monthly fee rather than being charged per visit. Doing so keeps your costs predictable and allows me to really get to know you. You have as much access to me as you need, making it easier for us to work together to comprehensively support your health and wellness.
2. Do you accept patients with or without insurance?
I accept all patients. I do not accept insurance.
3. Will you bill my insurance plan for office visits?
I do not bill insurance plans directly. If your health insurance plan allows for out-of-network coverage and reimbursement, I can provide information for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Medicare does not allow reimbursement for our services as I have opted out of Medicare.
4. Can I use my insurance elsewhere if I join your practice?
Yes. Your insurance continues to operate as usual outside of our office for specialists, hospitals, pharmacies, labs, imaging and other covered services.
5. Who is eligible for membership?
Any person aged 16 or older who is interested in wellness!
6. Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. Memberships are ongoing and open but must be paid monthly in order to maintain service with us. We also offer a 10 percent discount if your membership fee is paid in an annual lump sum.
You may cancel your membership at any time. If you have a balance of prepaid membership fees remaining, a pro-rated refund will be given to you based upon the date of cancellation.
7. What are your hours?
We operate by appointment only. This includes in-office appointments as well as telemedicine visits such as telephone calls, text and video chat.
8. What is the best way to contact the clinic?
In the event of a true medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the emergency room and contact us once the condition has stabilized.
During the day, we routinely check email, phone messages and the patient portal. The patient portal is the best way to contact us for non-urgent matters such as prescription refill requests. For extremely urgent matters, patients are able to contact Dr Betsy after business hours.
